@aphrarepairweek2021 Here's my entry for Day 1!
Prompt: Language
Rare pair : FraViet (France/Vietnam)
:::
thương [verb. Vietnamese] to love; to love tenderly
:::
The language was new, foreign to her tounge. The 'r' roll, the sing song tone, the way France said it like a love song which you would whisper to your beloved while holding them close to your heart in a warm, tight embrace.
-Je t'aime - She repeated after him, she got the pronunciation just fine, though her accent made it a little bit off.
Je t'aime bien - Admittedly, she was.
:::
Vietnam crushed the half-burnt cigarette into the ashtray, a terribly awful habit of France that had rubbed off on her. She didn't smoke as much as before, she quitted on it long ago. At times when they couldn't be drunk and be frank with each other, cigarette was a better option than chug down half a bottle of strong alcohol. They had known each other for more than a century now, over the history, it might not be that long; but objectively speaking, that was too much time to be infatuated with someone and can't decide on what to feel about them.
They fought too often nowadays that everything seemed too real to handle. Love just seemed fake and the words came out of their mouth sounded like meaningless gibberish.
One time he read her a love poem and after many unfit responses that went in the trash, she wrote one back (then kept it neatly in her drawer).
:::
It was universally agreed that French is the language of love.
He said it often. Je t'aime je t'aime je t'aime. It came naturally to him like breathing and living. She could never-
France told her he loved her once. She didn't trust it, he said that to everyone.
:::
God blessed a miracle and they were at peace with each other again.
It took them too much time to decide what to say to the other and what not to. They managed. Eventually, they were back at the starting point. It never occured to Vietnam that France actually liked her in a romantic way. That was just how westerners were, they said 'love' too easily, like it wasn't a piece of your soul that you devoted to your only beloved (after so many throughout thinkings and a life commitment), especially France, especially France.
It didn't make the word burnt at her throat feel any less better. It stayed there, persistently, whenever he was by her side. Je t'aime.
They were sitting at a cafe on the highest floor of Landmark 81, the traffic view was oddly amusing to watch. Suddenly, or as naturally as it get, France looked directly into her eyes and said to her in his very fluent Vietnamese.
-Anh thương em.
It didn't fully register to her that he meant it, she hoped he meant it.
-Anh đừng đùa với em như vậy! Anh-
(Don't you joke about something like that! You-)
-Oui. Anh thương em! - The word wasn't specified, but they well know what it meant.
Silence passed slowly between them. He smiled and caressed her cheek.
-It's okay that you don't say it back. I just wanted you to know.
Something in her eyes told him the answer. His smile grew more doting as she took the hand on her cheek to bring it to her lips. Not right now, maybe she would tell him later, Vietnam had always know her response to his words. She pressed a light kiss into his palm and the love language spoke for itself.

Translation
Je t'aime [French] I love you
Anh thương em [Vietnamese] I love you (thương can be used in a platonic way, if use in a romantic context, it means to love very deeply and strongly)
I was supposed to post this on Vietnam’s birthday on September 2nd, but I didn’t get to finish this. Oh well, better late than never.
Made under request!

Enjoy this hetalia doodle related to my Recto Bank comic of Andres thanking Vietnam because Hetalia Amino can't
(note: the outtakes is new, I actually drew the first comic when the incident happened. And China recently apologized but you know, informally)

More likely than you think- Omfg I’m so sorry I haven’t posted in like, forever, I’ve just been extremely busy with school, and just dealing with life’s bull crap.
