You Guys Are So... Wonderful

I mean it, from the bottom of my heart, and with every fiber of my being. And not just to my own friends, or the ones I see most. I mean it for every single person who role plays in this community. Whether we’re new friends, old friends, former friends, distant acquaintances, or even if we’ve literally never seen each other’s url before. Whether you do canon, history divergent, OC, 2P, independent, or any other flavor of character out there. Whether you’re new here, or an ancient, or a zombie popping back up for the first time in years. Whether you’re active every day or just once in a blue moon. You. Are. Amazing. 

Why am I saying this? Because it is true, and I simply couldn’t contain the thought to myself anymore. I was struck not so long ago with just how amazing the people in this community are. We have taken a little comedy franchise about pretty anime boys in country stereotypes and turned it into a vast wealth of beautiful writing and art and knowledge that goes well beyond the original’s scope. What I love the most though is how we all have this underlying passion for learning here. Just think of all the work each of you has done for your blogs! Even if you don’t dive too deep into history, you were still drawn to something about the nation (or state or city!) you write. How many of us have now become amateur (or maybe even professional!) specialists in our chosen fields of history and culture? How many of us have picked up a whole new language, just to learn more for our character or write them better? I, honestly, am always so humbled and filled with joy when I talk to other writers and they spill headcanon after headcanon and history lesson after history lesson to me. It is beautiful every single time, and I love it. We are a community that values education, in a way that is so unique to us. 

Think of how great it is that we can look at any nation or city or piece of history and come up with ways to humanize it. We can read about a historical event and discover ways to interweave it into a relatable person who lives and breathes its essence. We spend our days reading about history and culture and language and literature, and we do it all for fun! Not just simple fun though. We take all of it and we make beautiful, moving, engaging, and wonderful stories. And we do it together. We made an international community of learners and writers. Just because we all once laughed at some living stereotypes in a comedy manga. We should be proud. You should be proud. 

As I said at the start, I mean all this, from the bottom of my heart. This is a love letter from me to you. The only thing I want is to make such an amazing community smile. Because if Hetalia can teach all of us one single lesson, it’s that every human, wherever they live, deserves to smile.
