Today's the final day to see "Hanbok: Traditional Korean Costume and Culture" at Arts Clayton Gallery. Great for all ages, open to the public, and free! We visited earlier this month and it absolutely took our breath away ❤

On May 6, 1882 President Chester A. Arthur signed into law the Chinese Exclusion Act, prohibiting all immigration of Chinese laborers to the U.S. This was the first law in the United States to target a specific ethnic group for exclusion from immigration and was not repealed until 1943, when China became an ally of the United States against Japan and the Magnuson Act set a yearly national quota of 105 (!) Chinese immigrants. Despite this, and the other often hostile legal and social impediments faced by Chinese Americans, communities persevered.
