#apache plume

Our fourth (I think?) stop was the Grand Canyon, south rim. Because the north rim was (and is) on fire. You can see the smoke in most of these photos.

Definitely not an easy place to photograph with a mere phone camera, but oh well! There was plenty of plant and animal life to keep me excited: I got to spy on some desert bighorns casually grazing below us on a lookout point, and I brought my binoculars to watch at least two California condors! Watching them in the sky alongside the turkey vultures and ravens was an incredible thrill, they really are huge, even from so far away.
