Sabo and Jellal Childhood Friends Pt. 4
After Sabo’s return to the Revolutionary Army, Sabo is greeted by Koala and Hack. Koala and Hack notice a sad face on Sabo and ask why is sad. Sabo responds with how he remembers an old childhood friend before he met Ace and Luffy. Hack asked who this old friend of his? Sabo responds “His name was Jellal.”. Sabo explains how he and Jellal are both children of higher standards and higher status. Sabo is the son of a world noble who he disowned and Jellal is the illegitimate son of a celestial dragon. Sabo didn’t have many friends growing up until he met Jellal. Jellal and Sabo became close friends after they met and spent a lot of time together, until Jellal would be executed for being the son of an infamous pirate named Edward Newgate(Whitebeard). Sabo couldn’t let his friend die because he was a pirates son; so Sabo saved Jellal and fled the kingdom of Goa. Sabo also explained how Jellal taught him how to fight, survive and defend himself and even gave him a nickname AolSabo to honor their cherished friendship. The childhood friendship of Sabo and Jellal was cut short again when the military of Goa searched for them. Sabo insisted that he would never leave Jellal’s side and that he would protect him like did for him. Jellal agreed and Sabo would help him find a another camp ground only Sabo remember getting knocked out by Jellal. Sabo explained the next thing he woke up to was finding Jellal’s metal pipe and note telling Sabo that he surrendered to the Goa Army and thanked him for being the best friend he could ever ask for. Sabo also explained later drew Jellal’s right eye mark on the staff pipe to honor and carry the memory of his first friend. Sabo promises Jellal that he will carry on his memory and will stay alive and survive for him. Jellal regained consciousness after passing out from a panic attack and remembers the day he left in the forest alone and surrendered to Goa Army. Jellal recalls Ace conversation about his childhood friend Sabo and how his boat was attacked and a 10 year old Sabo apparently drowned. Jellal, filled with sadness and guilt, felt like he betrayed Sabo and that he let a 10 year old boy drown. Jellal would develop a deep resentment and a grudge towards the World Government and celestial dragons for they did to Ace and a 10 year old Sabo, vowing vengeance against the World Government and the celestial dragons for oppressive actions and for what they did to his friends; however, unknown to them for a long time both friends were separated, both Sabo and Jellal are still alive and well. Jellal with Crime Sorcière and Sabo with the Revolutionary Army. But now, Jellal knows Sabo is alive and well and is uncomfortable with seeing him again fearing that me might be angry at him for not telling him he’s alive. Ace tells Jellal that he will Sabo will forgive him and that Sabo is a kind person. Ace may not be able to leave land Fiore but he tells Jellal to look after Sabo and Luffy like he does for him and Erza.
