❤️❤️❤️ shit, dude. I'm sorry it's been so miserable. I hope a solution comes through quickly.
i’m really hoping this is just like a flare or something, i don’t really have any idea what the problem or the trigger is yet, but i’ve been frantically researching and it’s not just everything i love to eat that potentially can cause a problem, but it’s like, the fatty things i eat because i know it will make sure i’m getting enough calories, or how i should sleep with my upper body elevated when rn i love sleeping flat on my back without even a pillow, or how i shouldn’t put pressure on my stomach when i just started sleeping with a weighted blanket and i LOVE it, or how ibuprofin makes it worse but it’s the only NSAID that kills my menstrual cramps, or potentially even adderall?? idk just contemplating potentially having to change every single habit that currently holds my life together l o l

interesting! so does Mr. T recommend this Differin product I'm finding when I search Adapalene?
yeah, Differin and Adapelene are the same thing, which are a slightly different Vitamin A derivative than Tretinoin/Retin-A. and if people are going to go out and try this stuff on my advice, i have some cautionary tips based on my and mr t’s experience:
GO EASY AT FIRST. this stuff can really blast your face off if you use too much. when we first tried Retin-A, mr t got us a prescription for the strongest formulation and it was WAY too strong. ended up with flakiness, especially between the eyebrows, and a general feeling of rawness on our whole faces. (you get a bit of the feeling of rawness when you use the proper amount too, not all the time but if you use an alcohol toner or astringent or something you feel more of a sting than normal)
to try to dilute the super strong stuff a bit, i’d put on just a teeeensy bit and then put on moisturizer right after to make sure it got spread out evenly. (if you do it this way, DON’T spread the moisturizer onto your eyelids!) the stuff i have now is called Retin-A Micro, which releases the active ingredient more slowly into your skin to try to make it even less harsh
Tretinoin inhibits wound healing. (similarly, if you’re on Accutane, the systemic version of this stuff, you can’t have any kind of surgery, piercings, tattoos, etc. because they don’t heal! very bad!) nothing so serious to worry about with the topical stuff, but if i have a popped zit or anything on my face that needs to heal up, i take a few days off or avoid that spot with the tretinoin ointment until it’s better
if that sounds like a lot of hassle, you’re right, and i don’t honestly use Retin-A all the time. i’m much more religious about my benzoyl peroxide facewash/clindamycin wipes routine for acne control (retinoids are good for controlling certain types of acne, but not the type i’m prone to)
ultimately, adapelene and tretinoin are different molecules, so my experience with tretinoin might not be directly applicable to adapelene, so take all this with a grain of salt
