Lowit invented backstage fashion photography and solidified her place in fashion history as a gifted documentarian. A documentarian of a world everyone wants to see - yet precious few do. Her work has been published in numerous books and exhibited in the world’s most prominent galleries and museums: the ‘Gagosian’, ‘Metropolitan Museum of Art’, ‘Whitney Museum’ and the ‘Victoria and Albert Museum’ in London. Lowit parlayed her gift into high-concept fashion editorials for magazines world-wide. She was the fashion world’s backstage storyteller - and fashion was her muse. Roxanne Lowit died unexpectedly on September 13, 2022. She was 80 years old.
