helena had been trying to find the nerve to go inside the rage cage for a while now. she kept so much inside, so much to herself, and every day she wondered what was going to make her snap. snapping meant uncontrollable magic and she didn't want that for evermore. she barely made it out of her last town unscathed and she still had nightmares about what all went down. her fear and anxiety was holding her back from being a person and she was sick of it. she figured if she tried to let all of these dark urges out...let herself feel true rage for the first time since forever....things could be okay.

instead she ran right into her ex. the fact that she was even capable of having an ex was impressive given her fear of people but that only made it hurt more. antoine was a reminder that she couldn't be enough for someone she wanted to be enough for. that she couldn't get her shit together enough to make things work. of course he was in the area she was sure the rage cage was his second home sometimes. she was delusional enough to think she could just waltz into her ex's battlefield and come out unscathed. foolish, foolish.

it was only their fingers that had touched but she felt like she had been burned. she moved her hand away so fast, cradling it to her chest for a small moment before realizing she looked ridiculous. "s-sorry ant. i was just leaving...i don't know what i was thinking....."

Tony tugged on the strands of hair that brushed against his chin. He was due for a haircut and an updated dye job. The pink he’d added in the beginning of the summer had since faded out, the time spent in the pool leeching the color until there wasn’t even a pale hint of it’s former vibrant glory. If his father saw him now, he knew Edgar would roll his eyes. The man seemed to appreciate his son’s self expression, but made it clear that he believed Tony lacked any sense of professionalism. “So,” he began, turning to the person beside him, “I obviously need to do something about this.” He tugged on the strands again for emphasis. “But I don’t know what. Got any suggestions?”

if you’re hearing HAPPY PLACE by LYRIKAL playing, you have to know ANTOINE ‘TONY’ FORTIER (HE/HIM; CISGENDER MAN) is near by! the 31 year old CASHIER AT COMIC QUEST has been in denver for, like, ONE MONTH. they’re known to be quite FICKLE but being EMPATHETIC seems to balance that out. or maybe it’s the fact that they resemble DREW RAY TANNER. personally, i’d love to know more about them seeing as how they’ve got those HAIR DYED PINK, CHIPPED NAIL POLISH, AND CASUAL AFFECTION vibes. and maybe i’ll get my chance if i hang out around the DOWNTOWN DISTRICT long enough!
