i. his back was turned against her as he stood in her balcony. the night breeze barely looked like it was bothering him when it ran and caressed the skin under his shirt. she almost thought it cruel to take him away from his thoughts but, she didn’t like seeing him so alone. noa finally slid the balcony doors open before stepping outside.
she was barefoot, her dress picks up a little as the wind runs up the slit of it, the straps barely wilting off her shoulders as she approaches him. a bright red and amber light glowed between his fingers, the blunt in his hand was reaching to it’s stump. noa plucked it from him.
“i was calling you.” she said, slipping the rest of his joint between her lips. she looks down at the city below them and smiled to herself when the streetlights change from a sullen yellow to a violet blue. lines and lines of streetlights colordance under their feet. it wasn’t the drugs rather a very impatient person sitting inside. she wonders if yuno see’s it too.
“he’s waiting on us.” she speaks softly pushing the fiery head of the blunt into the ashtray she usually kept out here. noas hand takes yunos hand, clasping them together as if the wind would take her if she didn’t hold on. she gives his hand a warm squeeze and leads him back inside.
ii. love waits for his favorite people to gather around him. he’s sitting in noa’s lavish living room that’s looking more and more like a man-made den with all the pillows and blankets around them. there’s a ridiculous amount of space for them, but love enjoyed the campy feeling he got with blankets floating above them and expensive couch cushions and throw pillows serving as their iron walls and moats.
“okay.” he started, pushing away their last game of pictionary and other board games that were outplayed by now. “you guys ready?” he looked up at yuno and smiled.
“just don’t summon a demon in my apartment, that’s all i ask.” noa sat next down to him, as yuno took the other side.
love rolled his eyes and grinned, “like there’s anything wrong with that.” he teased and looked at yuno. he stretched out his hand for him to take. “it’s noas turn- name a place.”
she inhaled two deep breathes in and exhaled two deep breathes out, preparing herself as best as she could, “bagan plains, burma.”
love whistled in awe, “someones feeling spiritual.” he squeezed yunos hand hoping he was ready to be metaphysically astral projected across the world. love seeded out the energy he needed for this, and planted it into his own mind, picking it apart and letting it blossom to swallow them whole.
when he opens his eyes he doesn’t remember the earth to be this green. love is still holding on to yunos hand, all three of them are literally walking on clouds now. looking over the plains as the sun is about to set behind the vast array of temples, hills and mountains. the air is serene and crisp as if they were physically there wandering and running through the land. all they need is wings on their backs and they’d be the perfect picture.
he watches yunos face, thankful that he doesn’t need to read his mind.
iii. when they get back to their bodies noa found herself on the floor surrounded by cushions and pillows. there’s a certain feeling she gets every time she does this. it’s better than a high, it’s like the universe is running through every vessel and vein in her body sweetening the air with each breathe she took. if this is what it felt like to be divine then how did it feel like to be a god?
her eyes met yunos abruptly, and she physically shuttered-body trembling either from the way they were looking at each other or from this trip. it didn’t matter, noa rolled to her side with a consuming thought. besides love no one truly clouded her thoughts like yuno did. she moved her hand slowly and deliberately through his hair. at this moment all she wanted to do was comfort him, assure him that he meant something to someone. she couldn’t use her words, so she hoped he understood when she leaned in and pecked a kiss to his temple. thank you for being my friend.
a kiss to his cheek. for understanding me. a kiss to the corner of his mouth. you’re a beautiful person. thank you.
love watched them through the course of his eyelashes, lids halfway closed as if he was lucid dreaming. he sighed pleasantly. he wasn’t shocked at all, for a while now he knew noa cared for yuno as a dear friend, she just had trouble expressing it. from his observation they both had trouble expressing things. it didn’t matter though, not now. he used the arm that laid across his stomach to prop himself up.
“now that we’re back, can i get in on this too?”
he heard the small chime of noas laugh, she laid back down on the pillows. love moved closer to them and turned yunos face towards his, “where hasn’t she planted one on ya?” he joked,“i want you to remember this.” his fingers were under his chin now, his smile staggering in enjoyment of it all. love leaned down quickly and pecked the tip of his nose with his lips and quickly rolled away. he sat up and ran his fingers through his own hair.
“okay it’s your turn anyway. where do you wanna go next, yuno?”
