Hi! Yes, I don’t like Lucien at all for various reasons and haven’t since the first book. He was immediately an unlikable character to me for various reasons and that hatred just grew more as the books went on.
I would also like to specify that no, it is not just because he is mated to Elain and that he makes her uncomfortable that I dislike him (there are so many reason’s why I hate him). Even if Lucien wasn’t tied to Elain because of their mating bond, I still would still hate him because again, I have hated him since book one. Just imagine my face though when I read the scene in ACOMAF where after he traumatized Elain, he said he was her mate. Lmfao.

Genially for the life of me I can't figure out why someone would want to read a book with Lucien as the main love interest. There's nothing about his character that I like and he's useless. In book 1 he was weird and quirky and I almost skipped over his parts, he was constantly shitting on Feyre. In book 2 he didn't help Feyre when she was mentally dying at the spring court and he tried to drag her back after she said "no". When Elain was being taken back to the night court by Mor he yelled at tamlin to get her back, no you little pussy you do it, she's your mate you should want to do it yourself. In book 3 he was just plain useless and a bitch. When SA jokes were made about elain he didn't do shit. He almost let ianthe beat up him, yeah he didn't have much magic but neither did Feyre and she saved his ass. He went with Feyre because he literally didn't have a choice because the spring court fell apart. He said "I want to see if she's worth fighting for" WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU WANT TO SEE TF, YOU SHOULD HAVE LEFT FOR HER MONTHS AGO IF YOU ARE HER MATE, THE BOND SHOULD BE SCREAMING AT YOU TO PROTECT HER. When he caught the fish I threw my book against the wall and had to take a walk due to second hand embarrassment. Then they get to the night court and everyone hates him. He goes on the long useless journey to find Vassa and fails (he did nothing to contribute to help win the war). He didn't figure out elain was a seer and wanted to throw her in the psych ward. And later on he should've asked elain how she was doing after she was taken, because you know he should've felt her terror through the bond. In book 4 he got her a useless gift. 1. Elain likes getting her hands dirty when she gardens 2. He got her pearls the same stone as her old engagement ring, like read the room buddy. Elain always cringes away from him. Lucien also announces that he lives in the mortal lands with another woman, Elain's ex fiancé, and a man who made SA jokes against her, huge red flag there. In book 5 he's just a rash that won't go away and checks on Elain like a fucking dog. Honestly does anyone like Lucien?! He doesn't add shit to the story and needs to go away. I hope he ends up dead and alone, he constantly betrays people (Feyre, tamlin, Elain, the autumn court). Poor baby lulu will never deserve anything. He deserves to rot in hell. I will never want my sweet Elain around his toxicity. And he will never protect and cherish her the way she deserves. Fuck you Lucien.

I have never understood the way people love Lucien. In my opinion, he was a very boring and annoying character since the first book. The way he has treated Feyre throughout made me angry and then the way he treated Elain made me feel the same way. There’s actually not one scene where he’s included that I actually like in all the books. Every time he’d pop up on page I’d internally roll my eyes like here we go again.
People tend to forget a lot about how he treated Feyre and actually spin it to make it seem like Feyre did something wrong to Lucien. That’s really not the case at all. I think the people who are very big on babying Lucien have very male centered mindsets. They say all the time that Lucien deserves this and Lucien deserves that because of x, y and z and it’s like…have you actually read about the character you’re going so hard for? Have you seen and understood all the awful he has done? I don’t know, it makes no sense to me.
I just have never seen any appeal in his character in the slightest. He never interested me and he’s been a bystander in so many bad things as well as acted terrible throughout.
One thing I’m very happy about is SJM saying that he was apart of Elain’s trauma because that is something I’ve been saying for years.
