Sound Cleansing in Judaism:
So this technique is actually my personal method for cleansing my space of unwanted entities. The origin of this technique goes back to Berakhot 62a:9, where it talks about how the wife of Rabbi Rava would rattle nuts in a “Copper vessel” to scare away the demon of the privy. I have since added some of my own personal adjustments based on other parts of Jewish lore.
You Will Need:
A Copper Bowl, Jar, or other object you can use to as a vessel. (Pro tip: you can make a cleansing rod by using a capped off copper pipe with the nuts inside)
Nuts of some sort, personally I always use almonds as they are considered a Segula against the evil eye so they seemed the most fitting
Now, as to what you choose to do to accompany this next part is up to you. I generally put on my Tefillin and Talit and sing Psalm 91 as I go, which is considered a powerful protective psalm, which is actually dubbed the "Anti-Demonic Psalm". All of that is optional but I find it helps and adds some extra chutzpah to the ritual. From here, all you’re going to want to do is to walk about the space you wish to cleanse while rattling the nuts in you copperware + whatever else you do in addition, if anything, until you feel your work is done!
