So this just came across my desk (always wanted to say that) and it captured my attention hence it is being shared with you whether you like it or not! well not really because you could just not read it, anyway. Anti-Clone is a band that have crawled out of the depths of Boston, Lincolnshire, with from what I have read a rather delayed start due to lineup changes but from then what the research shows they picked up quite the cult following but then again when you start writing nu metal material whilst wearing grotesque masks you send out a pretty big statement that they have a lot to live up to. Having funded this album through a fundraising campaign which is very impressive I’m eager to dive in.
You can see and feel there is a very heavy early Slipknot influence here just by the way that the vocals are put together and the tone of the music, “Switchblade” is the best example that I can give as to that reference that accompanied with the fact they wear masks as well, there's nothing wrong with that because Slipknot’s sound has changed over the years and then here comes a band that takes that early formula puts their own stamp on it and shows a great deal of promise, on the first few listened I genuinely thought that it wouldn't stick with me after time but in fact what did happen to me was that I really got addicted to “Mechanical Heart” and “Feed the Machine” because of that old aggressive style from early Slipknot mixed with heavy industrial techniques and sounds, makes for quite the concoction of metal goodness.
For a debut album and using the masks as well is always a risky game in this day and age because of the massive bands on the scene that have done that and had it become synonymous with their band and persona’s but this here is a great starting point, the lyrics aren’t exactly high on the dynamic scale but they're very bold and in your face which is a great start along with easy to follow. I look forward to seeing what these guys have to offer the scene in the future!
