Filipino practices are still evident today. Example, Po and Opo, the ‘bless’ to the elders and being hospitable to the visitors. These practices contribute to the culture of the Filipinos. These are often recognized by the foreigners abroad. Some American men prefer Filipina women over American because of their ‘pagiging maalaga’ in nature and the discipline that Filipino families instilled to them.
Philippines is a one of the religious countries in Asia. It’s a good thing to practice catechism in early years of childhood because this would help them nurture their spiritual wellness at early age. I am a firm believer of this. At the age of 12, I already became one of our church’s youth lectors. It’s not hard for me to serve because the only requirement is to have the third sacrament, the confirmation, which is the least stage of sacrament of Initiation for Catholics and the will to serve. It wasn’t easy, I have to abstain from saying boisterous words because I also evangelize the word of God in front of many Christian Catholic believers. Though hard, I love to serve the church because it lessens the weight of the cross I always carry for a long time.
