Dear leaders, 

 As I see it, you have two options: 

 Be a climate champion and do everything within your power to address climate change. 

 Get out. If you're not willing to tackle the climate crisis, then public service is not for you. 

The Anthropocene is a proposed epoch that begins when human activities started to have a significant global impact on Earth's ecosystems.

Evidence we’ve started an ‘Anthropocene’ 

We’ve pushed extinction rates of flora and fauna far above the long-term average. The Earth is now on course for a sixth mass extinction which would see 75% of species extinct in the next few centuries if current trends continue

Increased the concentrations of CO2 in the atmosphere by about 120 parts per million since the industrial revolution because of fossil fuel-burning, leaving concentrations today at around 400ppm and rising

Nuclear weapon tests in the 1950s and 60s left traces of an isotope common in nature, 14C, and a naturally rare isotope, 293Pu, through the Earth’s mid-latitudes

Put so much plastic in our waterways and oceans that microplastic particles are now virtually ubiquitous, and plastics will likely leave identifiable fossil records for future generations to discover

Doubled the nitrogen and phosphorous in our soils in the past century with our fertiliser use. According to some research, we’ve had the largest impact on the nitrogen cycle in 2.5bn years

"Human activities are likely propelling the planet out of the climatically and ecologically stable state, the Holocene, which has sustained human development over the past 10,000 years. Science reports that we are now instead entering a new geological epoch, the Anthropocene, where humans have become the most potent force."

"Like no other generation before, we can choose the type of future that we will leave to the next generation. A transition to a safe and prosperous future is possible, but will require the full use of humanity’s extraordinary capacity for innovation and creativity."

The more and more I read on sustainability, global warming and environmental stewardship the less and less I can understand greed on a corporate level, it is literally mind blowing that we as humans are so ready to annihilate ourselves.  If anyone has heard of the Kardashev Scale it basically outlines the progress of a civilization and the level of it's technological advancement.  We currently are a Type 0 civilization in a transition to Type I. 

"A common speculation suggests that the transition from Type 0 to Type I might carry a strong risk of self-destruction since, in some scenarios, there would no longer be room for further expansion on the civilization's home planet, similar to a Malthusian catastrophe. Excessive use of energy without adequate disposal of heat, for example, could plausibly make the planet of a civilization approaching Type I unsuitable to the biology of the dominant life-forms and their food sources. If Earth is an example, then sea temperatures in excess of 35 °C would jeopardize marine life and make the cooling of mammals to temperatures suitable for their metabolism difficult if not impossible."

I pulled out some words from Gabo's Diagram. I put them next to Mother Nature and this is what she said to me. 

'THE NAMELESS HEADLESS INFANT IS THE ESSENCE OF THE ART MONSTER. LET'S ALL STOP WEARING MASKS.'
