On May 12th at 9am there is a California Coastal Commission Hearing at the Newport Beach Civic Center, on whether or not to approve a plan to develop Banning Ranch, which is where Sheep Hills is located. Not only would this development lead to Sheep Hills being plowed, but it would destroy hundreds of acres of Environmentally Sensitive Habitat Areas. In these areas several threatened and endangered species preside and nest. There is also a permit request for opening up 100 new oil wells in the area, which would lead to even more habitat destruction. Any development of this area regardless of the footprint size, is in direct violation of the California Coastal Act. Please come out to the meeting on May 12th and let your voice be heard, everyone is allowed to speak for 2-3 minutes.
