A lot of our knowledge about historical druids comes from second hand-records, but we understand the title of "druid" to describe healers and spiritual leaders, as well as figures of legal and political authority in pre-Christian Celtic and Gaulois civilizations. Druid characters appear in mythology and literature, particularly those that are central to religious beliefs and folk history of the region, where they fulfill a similar role to witches, wizards, and soothsayers in other canons.

I don't know much about Druid, to be honest. I don't think of him as an important character in the magic community, and it's mostly because of how writers care so little about him as well.

Waid tried but my feelings were pretty much neutral. He's been good and evil, but I hardly think this mystery around his morals was well-performed in Surgeon Supreme. Excuse my langague, but in fact I find it quite boring.

The only aspect that makes me feel a little bit of sympathy for the character is the fact that TAO used him as a test run for Stephen. TAO was quite cruel in that regard. That said, I haven't read many of his comic books, nor I desire to (this is why you're completely free to disagree and/or look for other people's opinions,).

When it comes to magic characters, I'm WAY MORE invested in Stephen, Clea, Victor, Illyana and, currently, Jericho. Perhaps one day I'll give him a try. In the meantime, I can't give you a solid perspective, my apologies =/
