You might want to put on some sunglasses before looking at the pink square anthias! The males are bright neon, often pink or orange, with large, reflective purple patches on their sides. This bright coloration helps them to attract mates, and to let any other potential rivals in the area know who's in charge.

Purple Queen Anthias are commonly kept in fish tanks. It's recommended that they're kept in a ratio of 1:2 males to females and in larger tanks, 2:6. They're very delicate fish and shouldn't be kept in tanks under 180 gallons [680 litres] as they fair best in groups.

Whilst they mainly eat zooplankton, they can also eat meat [and other frozen foods] and as deepwater fish they dislike light. Also, they're very friendly towards other fish!
