WHICH IS THE STORY BEHIND THE MOST IMPORTANT GOLDEN STATUE IN THE WORLD?
The Golden Budha –original called Phra Phuttha Maha Suwana Patimakon-, is one of the most memorable and unique recreations of Budha in the whole world.
This beautiful masterpiece is 3 meters high and it’s located in the temple of Wat Traimit in Bangkok, Thailand. The body of the statue is 99% pure gold. For this reason, is estimated to be worth over 250 million dollars.
In 1954, when the Golden Budha was being move to its new location, a devastating situation happened: The statue fell hard on the ground, sank in the mud and get lost for a long time.
Years after, the Golden Budha was found and taken to the temple of Wat Traimit. The story said “at that moment, some of the plaster coating chipped off, allowing the gold surface underneath to be seen”.
Nowadays this temple is considered a heritage site for Thailand. It’s important to add that the statue is in a save place now where international tourists can be able to experience the thrilling situation of knowing such an important relic as Budha most value golden sculpture in the world.
