It looks like D.C. is planning on releasing 3 episodes at a time at the moment. (Three episodes are set to release next week). There are 26 episodes in total. So seeing that 26 isn’t evenly divided by 3, something is going to change at some point. (I’m assuming at the end with the finale?) 

That means we won’t have a full season for about 8 weeks? (Two months?)

So if you got D.C. streaming I would expect to at least need to pay for two months to stay in the loop with the episode releases. Or you’ll need to wait a month to get a month and then binge it all at once. If that makes sense. 

Personally, I feel like it’s a good investment for me because I watch literally anything Batman. (The Batman Animated Movies, Batman the Animated TV show, Batman the New Animated Show, Batman 1980′s movies, Justice League, Young Justice etc. you get my drift.) And I study film, so a small investment in WB doesn’t bother me too much. 

(Though I really wish they would put Batman: The new animated series on there so I can have Timmy Todd but I ask for too much)

Well, I can try to give a response. So here we go.

Honest quick answer? No….?…

Now let me explain why.

DC created Tim Drake 30 years ago and it’s been a running rumor that Tim was gay by the fans for years. This led to DC thrusting Tim at girls to prove to the fandom that Tim was not in fact gay. You have Arianna, you have Stephanie, you have Cassie, you have Tam and you have Lynx. They’ve spent decades ‘showing’ Tim as anything but gay. At this point, I find it very difficult to see DC changing their mind and allowing him to be gay now. 

However. There has been certain writers and artists who support or like to hint at Tim being gay. Marcus To, for example, likes Tim/Kon, and I know there is another artist that drew Tim and Kon in a closet. (Can’t remember his name). 

Unfortunately, though, it’s not their choice what to do with Tim character wise. 

The biggest reason I don’t see them doing it is because they don’t seem to know what to do with Tim in general, much less what to do about his relationships. It’s easier for them to keep Tim with Steph because people for the most part like it and it’s easier for them.

Now, if Tim ever gained his own comic series again like his Red Robin run, I think that would be the best bet for Tim being gay in the universe. In his own run, the writer’s are going to have more freedom to focus on his character and how he will develop. Even then, I see DC hinting that he’s bisexual at best. But recent things that have happened to Tim make it unlikely he’s going to get a solo run any time soon. 

Now with me saying all that, that doesn’t mean I don’t think it would be great for them to chose to make Tim gay. I personally headcanon him as Ace, sometimes Bi depending on what mood I’m in. He doesn’t seem to really know how to treat a relationship very well, but that’s a whole other story. 

I feel ya Anon. I’d rather just see Tim as Robin and doing his thing, but I have a feeling him and Steph are going to be spending more time together because they both left the team with Batman. That means their going to do missions with each other and Cass and Tim are kind of on ‘opposite’ sides now.

I don’t even know where to begin with this. I guess I can try to explain how it all happened?

So a few summers ago I decided to rewatch a bunch of old shows from my childhood, starting with Liberty’s Kids. (Anyone remember that?) And then I rewatched Teen Titans. Even though Starfire had been my favorite as a kid, I actually really fell in love with Robin this time. So then I went on to watch The Batman, a show from 2004 I think? And fell in love with robin a little more. 

So I’m not gonna lie, I started out as a Richard Grayson girl. 

Slowly I started to find out about the other robins, and let me tell you, my first introduction with Tim Drake was…rough. He was the little quiet kid in all the FF I read who was a total nerd. Honestly, people just don’t know how to write for the poor guy. 

I think what finally gained my attention was when I found out how he became a robin, and actually read A Lonely Place of Dying. I’m not a big comic book reader (well I wasn’t at the time) and it was fascinating to me that this little kid was smart enough to figure out Batman’s identity. 

After that, well I just couldn’t understand why there was no hype for little Tim Drake. And me? I have this thing for the underdog. I always end up falling in love with characters that aren’t the favorite. 

Now I love him because he’s just iconic. Tim Drake had the first solo Robin comic run. He gave Stephanie Brown her start. His success led to the Nightwing solo comics. 

The other big reason I like Tim is because with him the age of comics was beginning to change. They were starting to get darker. I mean, he was named after Tim Burton because the man changed Gotham and how we see Batman from his movie. And I’m a sucker for dark and angst. (My favorite Comic stories are A Death of the Family and Dark Knights: Metal).

Tim is a very complex character. He’s not just the smart one. He fought for his role as Robin. I think it’s really really important should WB ever go looking for a live-action Tim that the find someone who values who Tim is. And I’m sorry, but I think that also means being careful not to fall into the fandom!Tim too. Fandom!Tim is cute, but it takes certain aspects of Tim’s character and amplifies them way out of proportion.

Tim deserves an actor who will bring something new to the table. Because that’s what he did in the comics.
