So I'm currently using Maya 2016 on a Mac with a Wacom intuos pro s, right? I noticed a few days ago the pan command no longer works. I thought it would be a driver issue so I tried uninstalling and reinstalling only to find out Wacom isn't even compatible with OS X El Capitan. (I even bought a new tablet to make sure it wasn't just my tablet messing up). I reverted my Mac to Yosemite, updated drivers, the whole shebang and the pan command (cmd + mmb) still does not work.
While I don’t know the first thing about Macs, I do know that your middle button needs to be set to “middle click” to function in Maya. Lots of other middle click things are double clicks, but the “double click” option will not do for Maya.
It sounds like OS X El Capitan has the same mixed user reception as windows 10, so you may have to wait for the drivers to roll around. But I’m glad you chose to buy a new tablet as a troubleshooting option, for me that’s about a month’s worth of rent.
