Team Another Name

In a country that many of my ancestors, aunts, uncles, family friends and friends of my own have fought for yet they shoot us down like we're nothing. Degrade us. Appropriate our culture then mock us for being us. EVERYBODY WANTS TO BE A NIGGA, but nobody wants to be a nigga. I'm sick. Another name behind a hashtag. Every night I pray that when I wake, the next hashtag isn't a loved one. And in a cruel, twisted way, it's what is necessary to survive. I know it's wrong to think "I hope the next person who is gunned down by the police isn't a person I care deeply for." But in a country that never gave a care in the world for my people what can you truly expect ?! Having to see their name begin drug through the mud in the media.. And the fact that we have to CONSTANTLY say it yet nothing is changing is all the more reason why this relationship is so toxic. I'm in a abusive relationship, and can't seem to escape. 😪😔
