From @kissottawa 15 years ago TODAY in 2003, 50 Million People Lost Power in a blackout that hit the northeastern United States and part of Canada. Do you remember where you were? what you were doing? We lived in an 18 unit housing project... everyone was out of their houses in the court... getting out of the oppressive heat inside, talking, sharing candles and cooking what food could be rescued on BBQ's. BIG BLOCK PARTY! Kids everywhere, up waaaaay past bed time... we'd barely moved in so that's when we met all our neighbors. We were the 'egg people' I'd just bought 4 dozen and there was no way they were going to keep so we were frying, scrambling and omlette-ing -with items others had in their 'going to spoil' piles... It was really profound how dark it was... lol, not quiet though!
