ser anorlainn x petri is a fun oc ship to me because it has the same appeal as petri x nepheli (petri and his genuine love for buff, confident women) but anorlainn is SO incredibly disinterested in petri as a person at this point and that makes him feel fucking insane. anorlainn is so capable and would be the ideal elden lord and petri, if not for the burning of his own ambition, would back her ascension in a heartbeat. and if he DID let go of his pride and support a different tarnished becoming elden lord instead of trying to seize power himself then the time loop would break and he’d finally get to rest.
but petri doesnt know that. and he gets SO MANY opportunities to go a different path in pursuit of a restful, peaceful life but he never takes the offered hand because he’s convinced he’s the only person who can fix the world. but everyone he’s ever loved and who has loved him wants him to just Stop and he won’t. he Can’t.
anorlainn genuinely loved petri in the beginning like so many do but very quickly saw how cruel he was and couldn’t tolerate it. she wanted to keep him like a lil trophy consort but knows he’d betray her in the end because that’s all he knows. so it’s better to kill him. in her eyes, seeing him succumb to madness, it’s a mercy
