rather elusive danish fashion designer anne vest showed one of the collections more indicative of opt's vision of copenhagen fashion week for s/s 2012, with its fluid draping, dark-if-classical colour scheme, and sometimes slightly bizarre (and bizarrely-placed) body paint models sported. 

i wasn't able to find much information on the designer herself or the collection, especially because most searches came up with pictures of actress anne hathaway (or whatever she's called) in vest-y costumes as catwoman for an upcoming film, but the palette included a lot of black supplemented with shades of olive brown, creamy white, taupe, and olive gray with an occasional woman's face screenprinted on a dress or t-shirt for extra spice. 

draping and layers were key to a range that was distinguished by unexpected asymmetrical cuts and texture, while pieces included bombers, slouchy trousers, vests (aha!), short shorts, long dresses and skirts, and plenty of billow-y tops. it's arguable that there was a certain rick owens or ann demeulemeester rocker quality to the clothes, although i rather thought of homeless chic at some moments, particularly when i noticed the bare feet painted black (as if dirtied to that point) models sported on the catwalk. 

that fact ultimately (alongside the strange white greasepaint that covered the girls' faces and the aforementioned rotting-esque feet) might scare many away, and here i'll be the first to argue that it's a shame and why runway styling is so important.  all told, many of the pieces did boast a classic timelessness with a little modernist edge, but with the brusque appeal of the presentation, it's perhaps needless to say that more than a few will be scared away for good. 

the above facts considered, i'd be prepared to argue that anne vest's work for the spring rather rivals some of the avant-y/classic contemporary stylings of such designers as mr. owens and ms. demeulemeester (although perhaps at cheaper rates), if a little softer than the former and tougher than the latter with a quieter element that suggests some of the clothes to function as wardrobe staples as well.  taken in this context, they appear right smart and one might be well advised to remember this range when searching for an intriguing-cum-basic piece, which doubtless will look much better amidst some colour and your own selections than without a shirt and a lot of dirty body lather.
