I had not much hope about how the show would portait Marius, so I was not THAT dissapointed (LOL) I remember back when I did read The Vampire Lestat 25 years ago I first loved Marius character because of his relationship with Lestat.

He unburies and helps him genuinely because he wants to do so and has some kind on fatherly mentor role. Here is despicted as an inpatient petty jealous asshole. Very much for the most patient of inmortals, as Lestat describes him in the books...

About the "rotten boy" comment, as the show has proclaimed one time and another, the story teller is ALWAYS biased while explaining his side of the story, sooo, maybe the "rotten boy" statement is a Lestat's statement put in Marius mouth...jut my guess...
