Giving myself permission to have a spot to make a mess. Giving myself permission to experiment with unconventional mark making tools. Giving myself permission to not be concerned with functional outcomes (ie making marks to be utilized in textile patterns). . It’s the @louisefletcher_art Find Your Joy taster course, lesson 2. . 1) the “studio” 2) unconventional tool array. Experiment 1 was to use disliked colors (using acrylics, which I also dislike) and unfamiliar tools and to be aware of likes, dislikes. 3) the agapanthus stalk made a good scratching tool but lacked structural integrity 4) I disliked the dried rosebud head, but the stem of it was another great scratching tool 5) end result with most liked tools. Happiest stamping and scratching. Disliked working wet. Still dislike the faded orange color. The olive green repelled me as well. 6) Experiment 2. Using familiar tools (Caran d’Ache watercolor crayons in better colors than acrylics) with favored acrylic colors (swapped blue for the ugly orange) along with newfound tools from experiment 1. Still happy stamping and scratching, mark making with the crayons. Question of the week: where are my oil paints? Not on this shelf.
