REVIEW: Gleemerās āAnymoreā Offers a Deep-Seated Cathartic Catalyst For Your Emotions
Review by Annayelli Lizette.
Artist: Gleemer
Album: Anymore
It isnāt always easy for bands to continue the momentum of a captivating and correspondingly hyped up debut album, but Gleemer seem to have concocted the perfect formula to deliver to us, worthy listeners, a new shoegaze-y melancholic-pop album Anymore ā out now on Other People Records.Ā
Hailing from Colorado, the band has settled into a quartet that has been able to construct a solid and unionized second album that is made for personal introspective listening. Its fuzzy, emo, 90ās grunge yet mellow pop sound makes for the perfect backdrop in indulging into your own thoughts or the soundtrack to a good cathartic cry.
Gleemerās Corey Coffman and Charlie OāNeil recorded every piece ofĀ AnymoreĀ together in a home studio bringing together the bandās lo-fi hazy expansive yet intimate sound. Each song breaks through and pierces your deepest emotions letting you give into these flashes of hurt, excitement, longing, and hope, and that the band has been able to translate into personal songs that universally relate. Songs like āPressureā and āDrynessā have the Midwest emo vibes held together by the Coreyās woozy vocals hovering over expertly layered guitars and languorously mid-tempo drums.
Overall, Gleemerās Anymore is considerate production that is precisely put together and succinct, marrying gentle atmospherics and huge fuzz-drenched catharsis. On Anymore, Gleemer has collected a grand and excellent set of songs and that they hope bring its listeners a little comfort, if only for a moment.
Rating: 4/5-Ā Songs like āPressureā and āNot Aroundā are each three-minute(ish) collections of visceral and poignant listening. Both songs occupy your emotional headspace and capture the Coffmanās poeticism as well as the various genres his music transcends. Be prepared to truly feel things.

INTERVIEW: Prepare to become obsessed with Stand Atlantic
Interview by Annayelli Lizette.
Australian act Stand Atlantic may only have one EP under their belts, but Sidewinder is a batch of seriously catchy alternative/ pop-rock songs. Comprised of Bonnie Fraser on vocals, Jonno Panichi on drums, and David Potter on bass, theyāve got a knack for honest lyrics and infectious hooks (SidewinderĀ was recorded with producer Stevie Knight, whoās also worked with With Confidence), itās no wonder theyāre beginning to make waves in the US.Ā Ā
We recently caught up with the band for an interview via email; read the full interview below!
CIRCLES & SOUNDWAVES: First off, congratulations on the release of Sidewinder! Can explain how the writing and recording process for you as a band? Was anything different now that you have signed to a big label like Rude Records?
STAND ATLANTIC: We wrote a bunch of demos and had a lot of little unfinished ideas and built the songs up from there - once we're in the studio with our producer, Stevie Knight, we tear them all back down and work out all the kinks. Signing to Rude didn't really effect our songwriting process, as we already had the songs written before we started working with them!
C&S: Your fans have had an overwhelmingly positive reaction to your debut EP! As your first major release, how did it feel to finally release something you have been working so hard on?
SA: Yeah! The response has been absolutely astounding and more than we could have hoped for. Working so hard on this EP and having it finished for so long and not being able to release it was almost unbearable so it is definitely a huge relief to get it out, and the fact people seem to be responding so positively to it makes it even more special.
C&S: What were you listening to while recording Sidewinder and did any of those artists become sources of inspiration for your sound?
SA: We all listen to a lot of pop artists. During the time we were writing/recording the EP we were definitely listening to a bunch of different band, a couple that come to mind are Bully, Violent Soho, Weezer, blackbear, The Story So Far, Trophy Eyes to name a few!
C&S: The EP touches on relationships and learning from your mistakes, can you share how the EP process helped you deal with whatever was going on in your life at the time?
SA: As most artists will say, writing music or creating art is very theraputic... Especially when you lay personal details out in the open for anyone to scruitinise or relate to. So it definitely helped me personally move on and 'close the book' so to speak on certain aspects in my life i was dealing with.
C&S: Based on the experiences you detail on the EP, is there was any message you would like your fans to take from listening to the Sidewinder?
SA: DO NOT change who you are for anyone besides yourself.
C&S: Can your fans in the U.S. expect to see you stateside anytime soon?
SA: We would absolutely love to, definitely been a huge goal for us to reach US shores so we're working hard to get there!
C&S: Lastly, if there is there anything else you'd like to share or add?
SA: Thanks so much for listening and supporting - you can find us on all social media @standatlantic everywhere if you wanna keep up to date with what we're doing!
Thanks Stand Atlantic! SidewinderĀ is available for purchase here. Be sure to keep up with the band on Facebook, Twitter, andĀ Instagram!
REVIEW: Seaway bring classic pop-punk vibes to their third studio album āVacationā
Review by Annayelli Lizette.
Artist: Seaway
Album:Ā Vacation
Six years as a band and a newly minted third full-length record Vacation ā available now on Pure Noise Records ā Seaway has developed into their own sound, one inspired by the pop punk heroes that came before them.Ā
On Vacation, you can hear how the band has evolved since Colour Blind, honing in on a refined sound that is cohesive and solid, not to mention really, really fun. It has the eccentric lyrical makings of classic Blink-182 songs, a little Weezer in the tempo, and even some Sum-41 in the hooks ā all of which are sources of inspiration for the band ā but Seaway managed to run with the 90s spark and made it very much their own. Even as the band has managed to evolve, it still holds that special Seaway magic that their fans will really revel in and will hopefully hold them off till the next release.
Songs such as lead single āApartment,ā āLula on the Beach,ā and āScatter My Ashes Along The Coast Or Donātā are standouts on the album that will surely become part of the bandās live show repertoire. This is such a fun happy go lucky type of album that will be entertaining to see the band play live.
Seaway might be bringing the Vacation vibes to a city near you- check out their website for upcoming tour dates and while you are there, make sure to order your copy of the new album.
Rating: 5/5- Seaway keeps it fun, entertaining, and bright, all while perfecting the iconic pop-punk sound paved by their heroes. Itās excellent listening that will surely put Ā a pep in your step, a smile on your face, and will keep you hitting the repeat button for more.
