Like an oversized green leech, Toothless remained firmly attached to Hiccupโs prosthetic, splaying out his wings and using the tiny hooks on them to get a better grip on the metal. Hanging onto the boyโs foot as he was flailing it about wasnโt easy, but Toothless had weathered worse.ย His Hiccup had swung him about until his eyeballs rattled in their sockets, and the little dragon had come out no worse for wear.
Were a few more mackerels (and not singing for his supper, for that matter) worth feeling like he was strapped to a cartwheeling Golphin? The answer was undoubtedly yes. Every dragon knew a meal was a proper meal only when you couldnโt fly by the end!

Heat was building up in the dragonโs little noggin, like little schools of fish swimming up his veins. Puffs of black smoke escaped from his nostrils. There was nothing more frustrating in the world than being unable to communicate something because of language. If only this human could understand him, then this all would be so much easier!ย
If only, if only, if only...ย ย
