Hello everyone! We’re back after a much needed break from social media! . . I thought we’d start with this post to update you on Lunie’s character design! We did some early play tests around the end of March with Lunie in her quadruped form, and it was very clear that there were a *lot* of issues, not just with gameplay but also with the world building and the story we wanted to tell. . . This resulted in many hours of sketching, refining and working out a new form for Lunie. We had wanted to look at the possibility of making her bi-pedal for a long time, as we found Unity quite restrictive when it comes to 2D quadrupeds, and this is the final result. . . Our animation style has advanced a lot as well, and figuring out how to mimic compositing effects found in Toon Boom Harmony in TVPaint has been really fun! (I tried using Harmony and just could not get on with the programme at all). . . Here are some of the recent sketches of Lunie where I’ve been trying to figure out the mechanics of her new movements and attacks. . . We knew we wanted to keep the lantern as an important feature, but having her run everywhere with a staff felt clumsy and...not pleasant in-game. . . So digging through Welsh history and folklore, we looked at what we could give Lunie to attack with. We narrowed it down to a spoon (after the Welsh Love Spoon tradition) and a bow, as Wales is famous for its bowmen. . .
