K So i really need to get this out there and tumblr is better then facebook because on here people are open minded and such. 

But in all seriousness, Why exactly do we believe that we are smarter then animals? I read a lot of studies today in prep for this rant and it seems widely believed that Humans gained this thought process when we began building farms and gained organised religion. 

Every study i have read today has enlightened me and taught me some cool things i didn’t know and to make matters better, they all acknowledged that they couldn’t even study the full extent of an animals intelligence because they were being tested on human smarts. We are animals too don’t forget. Its pretty conceited to believe we are the smartest just because we have more technology and “Complex Language”. For one, I don’t think other animals care about our technology they prefer to be outside in most cases(also we have opposible thumbs). As to complex Language, Have you ever wondered why cats don’t mew(just mews not other noises) to other cats? Let me just say that cats have about 100 different vocalizations and and most of them are meant to communicate with us because we cant accurately understand there body language yet like other cats can. I had two cats for years(one passed recently) and they rarely mewed at each other. Hissing? Yes. Growling? Yes. But rarely mewing. Because that's how they communicate with us!

Dogs have significantly less vocal sounds then cats do, However they are not any less smart. Sometimes growling is not an aggressive behavior but is actually your dog saying that he needs something he dosent have a vocalization for. Its up to you as the owner to tell the difference. They learn by the results they get making certain sounds. Cats unlike dogs, are just as smart, but are more stubborn and proud in nature and are much more demanding. 

A lot of us have mental disorders on this site right? Well different species of animals have been proven to have illnesses like OCD, Anxiety, Depression, Schizophrenia, Phobias, and of course behavioral problems. 

I want to move on to other animals besides the two main domesticated ones! First one i want to talk about are Dolphins and Primates. Both have been studied and recognized as the animals with the closest brain complexity as us, which has been related to Social Behavior. Dolphins use a large variety of clicks and chirps to communicate as well as sounds we cant even hear. The Language of Dolphins are so complex that scientist haven't even figured it all out yet. Dolphins are definitely more superior in a social network. They live of relationships and aren’t solitary in anyway. They have displayed this when another is sick and they comfort them and even during labor it is often not the mother who pushes the baby to the surface, but a close friend or family member. They have affection, and humor and other things that they have learned from being in a group. They can even recognize themselves in a mirror

Another example of animal groups are primates. They are, like Dolphins, are Primarily social animals. Baboons know the difference between real and fake words, Chimpanzee’s individually can sometimes have better memory then the average human and are proficient at making various tools. They can also be taught sign language. Some primate species have even been known to go to war with other colonies, Killing the males and stealing the females. Also they can learn to smoke.

Goats have excellent long term memory

Elephants work together to solve puzzles, have great memory, and are empathetic. (They also recognize themselves in the mirror)

Parrots of course can replicate sounds of the Human Language. But it has also been proven that they know what they are saying.
