Belgariad Fancast- Cherek
The kingdom of Cherek Bear-Shoulders is known for its burly soldiers, its paralleled navy, and its fierce women. During Cherek winters, drinking, wrestling, and boar hunting are the most common past times. Â This strong, impressive people harbor a particularly twisted sense of humor and a warmth of spirit that makes them the beating heart of the four nations of Aloria.Â
Anheg, (John Rhys Davies) the king of Cherek, is perhaps the rowdiest man in the whole nation, but beneath his boorish exterior lies the heart of a scholar. Anheg has devoted his life to the study of books and to protecting his realm from the threat of the Bear Cult and the Murgos. He is surprisingly warm-hearted, particularly when it comes to his favorite cousin, Barak.Â
Islena, (Maria Doyle Kennedy) the queen of Cherek, has long fancied herself a sorceress, but when faced by Polgara’s true power, she promptly wilts. Though Islena is suckered in by the lies of the Bear Cult, she uses her status as Queen to not only rectify her mistake, but to protect her people while the Army of the West marches off to war.Â
Barak, the Earl of Trellheim, the Fearsome Bear (Stephen Root)- The second-craziest ship captain in all of Cherek, Barak lives for the thrill of battle. A fearsome man with an unruly red beard and a surprisingly tender heart, Barak lives for his children, even if his wife Merel typically gives him a chilly reception. The role assigned to Barak and his ancestors by the prophecy is simple- protect the line of the Rivan King at any cost. And Barak does, with a biting wit and more insight than anyone ever expected.Â
Merel,(Toni Collette) Lady of Trellheim- Barak fell in love with the beautiful blonde Merel when they were young, and though Merel spurned his advances, Barak’s status as Earl of Trellheim made him an attractive match, and they were married. Merel made her husband’s life miserable, even after the birth of their daughters, but when Queen Ce’Nedra began her own little Queen’s Council, Merel began to take a more active role in the world outside her own private hell. With the birth of their son, Merel and Barak  were finally able to overcome their pride, and raise their children in peace and joy.
Malloreon 30 Day Challenge
Alright, its been a while but here it is.. Day 2: Best Monarch.
I gotta admit, I really liked Zakath, even though he made it drag on a bit. He was the first one to come to mind but I also like Cho-Hag. He's mostly portrayed as being old and weak but He was pretty badass fighting Taur Urgas to the death. My favorite is a toss-up between Rhodar and Anheg though. Chereks and Drasnians are awesome. Rhodar's just a crafty, smart bastard and Anheg's the King of the motherfucking Chereks. You don't get much more badass than being the King of the Chereks. Actually most of the monarchs in these books are pretty cool, I like almost all of them.
