I was going to post this pic on the 4th of July, because the shawl looks like a flag to me for some reason. The fact that it is not quite red, white and blue seemed apt, because, in truth, I am not quite patriotic. Although I was born in the United States, I don't really think of that as an accomplishment, and therefore something to be proud of. Like many immigrants, I had no particular sense of myself as American until I moved away, when it suddenly became (sometimes painfully) evident to me. That seems like a long time ago now. I think I have, since then, comfortably settled into my foreigner status. I know not everyone has that privilege, and I am grateful for it. As it turned out, I was quite busy on Saturday, and didn't get around to posting, but here it is today. I hope you don't mind.
