If anyone else’s child resembles 👺👹👿😾😡💩 Trust me you are not alone!!! It is the season for children to be wired, tired, full of Christmas goodies, on endless sugar come downs and not quite able to contain their excitement for the big man that they started getting excited about in November... their patience is wearing thin! However knowing all this it didn’t stop me crying yesterday when my boy pushed every button he could possibly push with incredible sass attitude! He did come and give me a hug when I was sat upstairs - no words just a huge hug which instantly made it better. We both teared up - gave each other a reassuring nod. My patience and Energy is once again reset to last me until after Christmas! You’ve got this I promise! You are not alone - talk to someone - talk to me - it’s ok to admit your child is hard work it doesn’t mean you don’t love them with every bit of your heart, body and soul! You are human. As parents we’ve got each other’s back! 💕 #managingemotions #ilovemykids #angrychild #christmasistoomuchfun #littlelegsltd #youvegotthis https://www.instagram.com/p/BrcKDMthWSI/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1dzs86ttju1t2

My child rages and breaks shit.
My son is beautiful. He’s 8 years old. My son is destroying my life.
My boy has cycling episodes of rage and intense anger. When he is like this, he is a different boy and impossible to reason with. He displays his rage by going into his room and destroying it. He tosses furniture like it is made of paper. He throws all the contents of his drawers and closet to the floor. He breaks all breakable items. He kicks and punches holes in the walls. He bangs on his windows. He barricades the door with all the destruction.
Keeping my son safe during these episodes takes up some major real estate in my brain. At the onset of his latest cycle, after hearing him bang on and punch his windows, I decided I needed to somehow cover the glass in his room, to prevent him from breaking the window and severely injure himself. This decision sent me immediately to Home Depot, where a friend and I engineered a plexi-glass framed window cover. It took 2 full days to build and install the window cover and cost over $200.
I tried doing an internet search on how to rage proof my son’s room and nothing came up. That is insane. I can’t be the only one facing this problem. So here it is. My go-to guide on how to logistically handle a child that rages and destroys. I’ll include pictures and what I do to protect my kid. Would LOVE to hear from other parents on how they do the same.
TIP NO.7: Don’t Resort To Harsh Punishments It’d be a mistake to use harsh punishments to deal with an angry child. This strategy won’t work and the kid might feel angrier and more committed to causing tantrums. And 7 other tips to follow when your child is angry
