whenever i reblog posts about parental abuse and put something in the tags about how my mom was shitty to me i have to squash the compulsive urge to be like "i'm okay now tho don't worry! 🤪"
i mean yeah it took me a long time to even be able to articulate how horribly she treated me, and longer still to call it abuse because it was excruciatingly shameful, but ... i'm genuinely okay now, don't worry. 😄 it feels very good to be able to talk about it without actual pain or shame and i cherish the opportunity.
The other day my sister was congratulating herself for some mission she accomplished in Assassin's Creed and I was teasing her and said "self-praise is no praise!" and she seemed somewhat perplexed and I said "...didn't mom say that to you when we were kids?" and she said I've never heard that expression in my entire life
and i guess sometimes as siblings you were raised differently without realizing it
she sent me this the day after i told her i'd gotten my IUD switched out for a new one 🤡
