@angelus-tenebrae said: “Namu?” Ryou asked in surprise. “Goodness it feels like ages. How have you been?”
Malik’s eyes widened when he heard the familiar voice. He turned his head only to see Ryou Bakura standing beside him. Shit. His chest suddenly felt tight and it felt like he was staring at a ghost. He knew Ryou had been his ex-partner’s host so it was obvious that they “looked alike,” but aside from the softer expression, they looked so damn similar it made his heart feel sick.
It took him a long moment to even register that he had been called “Namu.” He managed a smile, but it was shaky at best. “H-hey, Ba---” He furrowed his eyebrows. Was it appropriate to call him Bakura? It was Ryou’s surname, wasn’t it? But skipping straight to a given name was awkward in Japanese culture too? “Er...” He shifted awkwardly. “...I’m not sure what name to call you...?” he admitted. The last time they’d seen each other was when the Pharaoh was shipped off to the afterlife. Malik had purposefully avoided conversation with him since that time. There was the guilt of having hurt Ryou mixed with his complicated feelings he held towards Bakura while simultaneously mourning his death...
it was all just... a lot.
