They've always thought highly of one another. Kaito trusts Angelina when it comes to her skill in forensic work, and Angelina admires Kaito's hardworking nature.

Angelina was a part of the Department of Supernatural Affairs, but fighting took a toll on her. She works in Forensics now, but still trains with Kaito to keep herself sharp.

Angelina sees right through Kaito's harsh exterior. Kaito can also tell when Angelina is faking being happy, or calm.

The reason why Kaito is particularly harsh on new recruits is because he wants to prepare them for the dangers ahead. This totally has nothing to do with the death of the aforementioned friend back in the day, oh nooooo

Everyone in the unit (minus Genji and Savina) are confused as to why Yamashita makes it a point to talk to Robinson during lunch breaks.
