this thought is kind of a mess but it sounded better in my head-
imagine going to a restaurant with chongyun and they accidentally mix up his order so he’s stuck with a spicy dish, so bc of this you switch dishes with him so he doesn’t have to eat the spicy dish (obv bc u have a non-spicy dish)
i dont remember well but i think bennett doesn’t like spicy dishes either so this could apply to him?
shame on the restaurant, really :( but this would be so cute haha, especially if it happened on your first date or something ! like imagine—
The look on Chongyun’s face was pure discomfort as the waiter set a plate down in front of him, it’s steaming content surrounded by an array of Jueyun Chillies. The aroma of the spices was enough to send him into a coughing fit—and it did. Is it even humanly possible to eat something like this? Chongyun thought to himself, drinking from his glass of water to attempt to hide his look of horror from you—you only smiled at him politely before beginning to start on your dish, something that wasn’t spicy. As much as it shamed him to think, he wished that it had been your dish that had been made incorrectly—perhaps you could have handled it better than he could. There was no way he could eat this without his condition acting up, and going on a rampage probably wouldn’t the best first impression.
“Enjoy your food!” The waiter smiled at the two of you, turning to Chongyun. “Oh, and I’d be careful eating your food, sir! It’s very spicy!” They hurried off to another table that sounded like they were complaining about something; a messed up order, perhaps?
“Ah~ I love the food here!” You beamed at him, raising your pair of chopsticks to your mouth to prove your point to a very-uneasy Chongyun. “Although, I wish I had gotten something spicy—this is a little on the bland side, y’know?” His eyes widened at that, causing him to shift in his seat a little—would it be rude to suggest switching plates, considering this was your first date?
“Would you prefer a spicier dish?” Chongyun asked, averting his gaze with a light blush on his cheeks. “The restaurant messed up my order...maybe we could switch...? Ah, of course if you don’t mind—it would be rude of me to ask something like that, especially on a first date like this.” He looked up at you hopefully, shocked to see you covering your laugh with your hand.
You pushed your plate towards him, swapping it for his. “You know,” The tone of your voice was amused, thankfully. “You should’ve said you couldn’t handle spicy food. It wouldn’t make me any less interested in you.”
“It’s not like that,” Chongyun insisted, hesitantly picking at the food that sat in front of him. “It’s...complicated.” You raised a brow at this, a curious glint in your gaze.
“Complicated? I don’t suppose you could tell me why, could you?”
“It’d be easier to tell you over a second date.”
“Is that your way of asking me out on another date?”
“And what if it is?”
“Then I’d say yes. Just make sure they don’t mess up your order again—I’d like to eat what I ordered next time!”
