Lady Skjalddís Bragadóttir at the 16th century Mughal empire feast in the Barony of Aneala. “The Barony of Aneala had a Mughal-themed Midwinter Feast. I briefly considered making Mughal garb, and then I thought, "Bugger that, I'm Tamil. I'll wear medieval Tamil garb." So I did. Dad sent me some good links to start researching from, and while mostly it confirmed what I already knew - that Tamil women hadn't worn much above the waist - I did find evidence of breastbands and the sari worn in a way that covered one breast and shoulder by the time of the Vijayanagar Empire, as well as useful details about jewellery and such. I did the best I could with what I had at my disposal here, and I do like how it turned out, even if it was a bit messy - I am horrible at tying saris!” The feast itself was pretty awesome! Kudos to Lady Bella and her kitchen team - the Mughal food was all delicious. :D” #16thcentury #tamil #mysca #lochac #aneala #perth Photo courtesy of Lady Skjalddís
