i don't know the exact timeline for when ghilan'nain physically changed into what we see her as in datv, but im really attached to the idea that she didn't look like that before the veil was made. like she looked just like we saw her in solas' memory, untainted and with no extra limbs. her new form is the direct consequence of her fusing her body with anduril's blighted corpse after anduril's archdemon was slain and she died in the fade. she does not need to mourn anduril. anduril has become part of her greater whole. she would not be parted from her, even in death.

Lord Of The Rings Spring Aesthetic
"Behold! The sword of Elendil!"
Created for @tolkiengenweek - DAY THREE: Gray Spaces â—Ź Enemies and Rivalries â—Ź Fealty
Ngl, watching the Lord of the Rings movies shortly after reading the books does them a disservice for me. It really highlights their differences and I have learned I greatly prefer the books. Peter what have you done to my boy Gimli? Also really hard to care about the Aragorn fake-out death when it isn't even in the book. I also dislike the way he characterizes and turns Humanity into a monolith. Like, Aragorn was apprehensive about his role but never outright rejected it, now imagine my ass when I finally listened to the audiobook and was like, HE HAD ANDĂšRIL SINCE THE COUNCIL OF ELROND?! Also Faramir being tempted by the ring and taking the Ring Bearer to Osgiliath sucks, because that was one of the main things that illustrated the differences of character between him and Boromir. And we can't forget how Sam and Frodo were changed to fight with each other, even to the point of Frodo telling Sam to go home.
