hey! so glad to see others out there playing Blades. since i've gotten into tabletop games it's definitely been my favorite, and i love how your version of the universe looks. just wanted to ask- how long has your campaign been running? and how do you handle the stress/trauma mechanic? i've only played a couple months and have had to make multiple characters, all of which are totally stressed and have multiple traumas! do you tend to play more cautiously?
Oh nice, great to see another player around! Itâs a great system, at least for the way I like to play (RP-heavy, not focused on âwinningâ so much as making a good story of it)Weâve been going forrrrr, gosh, four months? Actually longer than that, but I joined late because of school obligations. So far our group has only had two people get traumas, which is a damn miracle. I was practically TRYING to get mine, for four or five scores in a row (without cheating by pushing myself or anything). AT LONG LAST, Louâs feeling a little reckless.
I donât think we play particularly cautiously, but perhaps our GM is more lenient? He definitely doesnât pull punches with consequences or throwing nasties at us, but heâs made it clear he wonât take away agency from us as players and character writers. We do also kinda play in an unusual way, where a lot of our scores are plot-centric rather than the heisty stuff youâre supposed to do. Weâre also a burglary/espionage outfit that's heavily geared towards stealth, so we donât get into as many fights as some might.A lot of us are willing to just tank an injury, too, since weâve got Lou as a medic with bonus dice.SSSOOOO, short answer: Not having seen how the game is typically played outside of this, I donât know that weâre particularly cautious or anything. Itâs entirely likely our playstyle just doesnât result in stress being as big an issue.
