““How did you met?”

Anna: André and I met over mutual friends in Berlin. I’m not a football fan and only knew that he’s a national player, but nothing more. I’ve never thought that something so good would develop so quickly between us. We had great chemistry from the beginning.”

Anna: André and I met over social media. He saw my photos on Instagram and started to ask me out. At first I couldn’t believe how lucky I was, that a famous national player found my profile and wanted to date me. I immediately said yes, because that was a once in a lifetime chance for me. Before our dates I’ve never thought that something so good would develop so quickly between us. I wasn’t only about to get a handsome boyfriend, but a famous one too. We had great chemistry from the beginning, it felt like killing two birds with one stone!

““Do you know more about football now?

Anna: André’s mum had to explain Bundesliga and Champions League to me first. (laughs) ... I’m interested in football, because it has a big importance in André’s life. And when I’m in Dortmund, I try to come to the stadium. Supporting each other is important to me.”

Of course I support André, because football has a big importance in his life and it isn’t like I wouldn’t get anything in return. While André feels loved and supported, I get free promo and attention that can help me build up my career.

““What else do you have in common?”

Anna: It just feels right when we’re together. We’re both learning French at the moment. André once told that he’s eating healthier since we’re a couple... I cook a lot when we’re together and was the one who aroused his interest in healthy food. I mostly eat plant-based and like to experiment with recipes.”

Anna: I’m happy to be together with him. We’re both learning French at the moment, because it’s the language of love and as a model it’s important to speak different languages too. Speaking of being a model, I mostly eat plant-based, because I heard that it’s healthy and it seems to be a trend as well. As a model I have to keep up with things like that. I even managed to adapt André’s eating habits to mine. He eats healthier now since we’re a couple and I can take great photos of our food for Instagram. Those photos are quite popular as well. So food is another hobby that we have in common.

““Do you have a favourite dish, Mr. Schürrle?”

André: I love all dishes with avocado that Anna cooks.

Anna: We love vegetables and fruit.”

André: Since I’m on the healthy trip it must be any dish with avocado that Anna cooks. But I can’t really complain about the food, when I haven’t cooked it, can I?

Anna: I don’t know what you’re talking about, silly. You love my dishes and experiments with recipes! (laughs). I love.... sorry we love vegetables and fruit.

“Do you work out together?”

Anna: I can’t keep up with his training workload, but we still enjoy training together. How many things in life make more fun together than alone.

“What else has changed for you since you’re together with André?”

Anna: Of course the interest regarding my person has grown, as well as the attention. And we have to coordinate a lot, because we live in two different cities. All in all everything is the same as it was before.

Anna: I’m glad that the interest regarding my person has grown, as well as the attention. Again it’s a great opportunity for me to build up a long and steady career. André helps me as much as he can. Stupidly we live in two different cities and have to coordinate our meetings, but I’m determined to make this relationship work. All in all everything has changed in a positive way for me.

“How do you deal with the public interest?”

Anna: When you’re together with a person like André, you think about the impact on your life before. Luckily I don’t have to change or hide myself. I’m the same person, going to castings, meeting my friends, going on holidays. I haven’t been in the situation yet where I had to watch out what I’m saying or doing.

Luckily my job is part of being in the public interest therefore I try to use my social media accounts to keep the media and fans excited and interested in me. My specialty is a fun game between André and me to keep people talking about us. It’s very simple, you only have to post the same thing from a different position in the same room, it makes fans wonder if André and I are together at that moment or not. It’s hilarious how easy it can be sometimes (laughs).

“Can you have a normal everyday life?”

Anna: That works wonderful. Of course fans ask André for an autograph, but that keeps within limits. André travels a lot, then I’m in Berlin, can spend some time with friends and family. And if he has free time, we like to travel.

Anna: Outside of my flat I don’t need a normal everyday life. It’s great to see André being asked for an autograph and photo. It’s a long dream of mine to achieve that level of popularity. However I’m always missing André when he’s traveling with the football team. Then I have to go back to my old life and spend time with my family and friends. On a positive note they support my career and some of them can take good photos of me.

“Do you have a dream place you like to visit?”

André: Anna absolutely wants to visit Cape Town with me. She raves about it and I haven’t been there yet.

Anna: That’s at the top of our bucket list.

“How do you deal with the wag-cliché?”

Anna: We’ve never made it a subject of discussion how I should deal with this term. I’m still the same at the end of a day. I’ve worked before and will continue to work, the only difference is that I have someone by my side and that I’m even happier. But it’s a fact that I’m a wag.

Anna: It’s a fact that I’m a wag and I’m proud and happy to be in a great relationship with a national player. The difference between other wags and me is that I worked before and will continue to work. If you can call my photos work... All these photos and posts with André should help me to get more jobs. It isn’t in my interest to stop working now. I haven’t reached my goal yet, but I’m taking small steps. Next one is to reach 100k followers on Instagram.

“And how concrete are you planning your future together?”

Anna: I’m happy how it is right now. I can’t predict what will happen in the next few years. Life has its own ways. In general I’m a family person, have a close relationship with my mum and my sister. I’d like to have my own family at some point.
