the reason andi is so slow to forgive mekai for stealing the money is that its happened to him before. he was the type to run away for a day or so as a pissy little child, and everytime he would go with the same person. his best friend, the only person he ever trusted. when he ran away for the final time, of course they went together. but within a week, andi's friends was becoming hostile, trying again and again to drag him back home, and on the evening of the ninth day they fought worse than they ever had. by the morning of the 10th day, andi woke up just before dawn freezing cold and alone, all his money gone, all the food and scraps he had gathered and foraged taken from him, the remaining contents of his knapsack strewn around him on the floor. andi was left abandoned miles from the only home he knew with nothing but the clothes on his back, an empty bag, and one dented too-big ring.
