John telling Sherlock he's sorry to parallel The Three Garridebs as he's standing by his grave, so that he can at least feel some solace, some hope that, maybe, a part of Sherlock knows he tried.
John replaying (either the clip from the podcast, or in his head) what he told Sherlock in The Wisteria Lodge. Telling himself it's alright. And that it's not his fault at all. That there's nothing he could have done. It isn't up to him that everyone around him seems to be slowly affected by his cruel, invisible midas touch of death.
And yet, he can't help but wonder who will be the next to be affected.
And if he has any time to stop it.
