Self-indulgent but my biggest Skylanders headcanon is that Kaos has a burning jealousy for us, the Portal Master. Because from his perspective, we're just some loser nobody that convenietly showed up out of nowhere to thwart his plans. And yet, the Skylanders listen to you, respect you. You're adored, revered, even though no one knows who you truly are. While he had to scramble for any kind of positive attention & worked himself to the bone to earn the title of Portal Master, you got it all served to you on a silver platter. You dont even have magic! So why? Why does everything go your way all the time? Why do you get so much respect without even trying?
I've been watching them for my entire life, I hate the air they breathe their foolish decrees, their words so contrived
& I hate the way the townspeople gather outside
they hang on every breath, cling to their chest, home to their heart full of pride
& I'd be lying if I said I wasn't wishing for your untimely death or demise
or am I just wishing I could be like you?
that the people would see me too as a poet
and not just the muse.
Wait until he learns that the player is usually a child
A frog in some situations
Even if that means screeching like the silly monster-loving fangirl I am?? I'm not sure if anyone else in our small but surprisingly vocal auditorium were reacting to the trailer because I was just, beside myself with joy at seeing the trailer and seeing HIM. Like oh my god HE IS GORGEOUS AND I SADLY DON'T KNOW IF HE HAS A NAME OR ANYTHING?? But at the end I did go, "Fuck yeaaaaaaaaah!!!" lol
I mean LOOK AT HIM
This man
This elder
This KING
I will keep saying it
His aura is so intoxicating and so delicious
Itβll get you high and full for WEEKS
are you going to be joining us in batman fandom π /hj
I already did hfkshjf
I have, like, 4 fics on ao3 already that I just haven't shared here yet
No time like the present tho α( α )α
Dick Gets it Right (a short convo between Dick and Jason on a rooftop about dead parents and trauma, platonic/brotherly)
Gotham Librarian (OC-centric series that is v self indulgent but also v fun)
My favorites so far are Jason (his Frankenstein parallels and white hair streak have enraptured me) and Damian (love a kid learning to be himself and about what his place in the world really could be)
Duke and Cass are gaining significant ground tho I won't lie π

Asking me this question, you shall stop
Hello! Bless me with your mystery books knowledge ππΌ Do you have any recs of cozy mysteries by black authors?
Oh, what a great question, thanks for asking! I actually didn't have any off the top of my head, but I did some searching and thinking, so here's some possibilities:
These are some cozy series I have not read personally, but I've heard of the authors before now and the books look promising:
Baker Street Mystery series by Valerie Burns (this is her latest series, but she's written others as V. M. Burns that look worth checking out!)
Ice Cream Parlor Mystery series by Abby Collette (and it looks like she has other series as well!)
Mahalia Watkins Mysteries by A. L. Herbert (I read the first couple pages of the first book on Libby and it looks pretty funny and well-written! I think I'm going to check it out.) [OK, addendum: I looked into the author a little more and I think "A. L. Herbert" is a pseudonym for a man who I believe is Latino but not Black. But I'm not entirely sure, and the book still looks good.]
And then some info that you didn't ask for:
it's not cozy by I really enjoyed The Cutting Season, a standalone mystery by Attica Locke
unfortunately I can't recommend Dead Dead Girls by Nekesa Afia or Murder in Westminster by Vanessa Riley (both first in a series) - probably they aren't quite meant to be cozy anyway, but they are historical mysteries with Black main characters that both have the potential to be really interesting, but unfortunately I didn't find either to be well written!
Anyway, I will probably be reading some new books off the back of this ask, so if anything else comes to light I'll let you know!
