What is a sacabambaspis?
The ancient animal I’m studying for my paleontology degree, and also my fursona is one (whenever I make a joke about my selfshipping shenanigans I call my fursona by her species name)

some nice freshwater tanks
Ancestor
Migration is baked into our DNA, guys.
So, in case you weren't aware, humans began as simple tubes. A mouth and an asshole.
Purest form of a proper organism, just floating in the ocean somewhere.
And eventually that tube evolved into this fish-kind of thing. And this fish, this was the first in our lineage to become a new guy and to migrate.
The ocean where he was was all fucked up. And he looked around and said, "I got to get the hell out of here." and he migrated out of the water and onto the land, becoming a land guy.
Late Devonian fishes, University of Kansas Natural History Museum
This is my disabled, blind 23 year old fish, he is a a wild fish I rescued illegally from a drying pond as a child, there were dying fish everywhere and this guy was the only one small enough to fit in my water bottle so I took him. He was already blind then, in the upper picture he's about 10 years old but since turning 17, his swim bladder stopped working so he lives in a small bit of water for the last 6 years, I change his water every day bc he gets skin infections too. He also gets vitamins
He was originally gray but years of goldfish food turned him orange, so he's not a goldfish but some kind of small carp I think, I don't know
I was unsure about posting his pictures because really, he looks dead or abused or miserable but in reality he's a big part of my life and I love him, so why not post him
I hope people won't judge him, he eats well, he can still move/swim a bit and he's just really old
In May he'll turn 24, he's actually always been a really happy fish but for 23 years everyone has told me to kill him bc 'it's sad' but people just don't understand him, his life and our long friendship

Living Time Capsules: The Enduring Enigma of the Coelacanth
The coelacanth has a name that echoes through the annals of paleontology. This ancient fish holds a unique and captivating position in the history of life on Earth. Scientists once believed it vanished with the dinosaurs over 66 million years ago. The rediscovery of living specimens in the 20th century was astonishing. It transformed this ancient fish into an iconic “living fossil.” These…
