I say this as a grad student -- someone who is both a student and a teacher -- who had a severe, medically-dangerous panic attack today after a rich-straight-white-male-tenured-professor needlessly and unprovokedly insulted my inability to attend a conference due to financial hardship.

Today was..... hard. Hard to get out of bed, hard to teach, hard to focus. But I made it, just as I knew I would. The last week or so has had a very, VERY strong emphasis on work and figuring out hiring and all that. I’ve been trying to get professional photos, network, set up portfolios and LinkedIn profiles, and man am I TIRED, especially since we just started back full time face-to-face in the classroom. I think this weekend I need to dedicate some time to writing, but I’m also hoping this week I can focus on some self care (and exercise, I REALLY fell off the wagon last month again, but let’s try to keep a rickety thing together).
