Closing Up (Archive)
You know, I never really thought Iâd be doing this, especially so soon.
Well, relatively speaking. I was expecting me to keep going for a bit longer. Things change though.
I shouldnât make this too long because Iâll end up saying things I donât mean or ret-conning stuff mid-type.
But Iâm done with rping on Tumblr. It was nice, but I just donât enjoy it anymore.
Let me specify this, however: I donât hate rping in general.
Itâs just that, as a person role playing, there are features and ways that these things work that prevents me from having fun.
The follower system is one. Iâve caught myself focusing way too much on that tiny number and it just brings up negative thoughts way too much. I shouldnât be focusing on how many people really like my work, but instead those that I enjoy working with.
For me, RPâs are about having fun with those close to you. Tumblr helped me find those people, and just find people I enjoy being around, through the best and worst.
Not having images to use to describe your character is another. It feels like if you donât use them, people arenât going to rp with you on Tumblr. This is likely more of a personal gripe really.
I feel that Rping through servers on Discord, however, is more fit for me. I feel like Iâve found those groups that I like talking with and rping with and just being a goof with. Those servers give off the sensation I like about rps, and that they donât have to follow a format and be all business. I know there is âshitpostingâ, but that still feels like that your public opinion basically plummets if you make one error. It does not feel like it is about enjoyment, it feels like you need to conform to a certain style to be able to enjoy yourself. And if you donât follow these things, then it feels like you miss out on a lot of opportunities.
I also feel as if just about every other month, thereâs some kind of argument on here about some kind of minute detail. And it usually deals with what people have for a headcanon.Â
Undertale is likely the most freeform game when it comes to a characterâs likes, dislikes, past and future that I have played. The rules of the world are very open. It was designed to where you can interpret things so wildly different from someone else that itâs no surprise there are so many AUâs for it.
But please donât start spitting shade because you think someone is one way, and someone else thinks itâs another way. Or if you generally just dislike their character. Or if you dislike someoneâs ship. You all can be civil, discuss it as such.
Thereâs also the issue of that college is becoming a bit tighter, so I donât have as much time to fuss about small formatting details or worry about multiple peopleâs canons as I did when I started.
So, in short, to those Iâve left hanging on their RPs ( @onewithoutpurpose @amphibiotic , @underveils , and @ask-dogi to name a few) I apologize. Iâm kind of stealing an opportunity for you to develop your character further in a public setting.
IF you want to possibly continue those rps that are on Tumblr, feel free to hit me up through the DM, or if you know me on Discord. Iâd be fine to continue those through discord or some other rp chat room thing, and you can post the results on your blog if you so wish.
To those that enjoyed the actual content that I put out, Iâm glad you did. I hope I provided some entertainment of at least mediocre.
Now, for the future of this blog: Yes, it will be archived. As soon as I figure out how to do that (This was the first ever blog I made, and the only one Iâm needing to archive). But the âaboutâ page is still subject to change, since Iâm still playing Matt on other platforms. I need a way to show those Iâm rping the info theyâll need, especially since he can still change. Iâm unfortunately finicky.
And at some point, Iâll have a post that will give my last message out and one that gives callouts to other blogs I think you should check out, as well as my personal opinions on them.Â
Hope you all have a wonderful day/night. And thank you for having me.
