These are among the very first pieces that I painted for the series. as a regular visitor to California, I am inspired by the large, wide open spaces there: there is a calmness about it, especially when staring out at the ocean from the tall, seaside cliffs. I love where the natural, rugged terrain meets the deep, blue ocean... Since the onset of Covid (and travel limitations), I miss seeing those tangerine sunsets, diamond-sparkled waves, and walking long, sandy beaches, where the seagulls play.
