                   Without waiting for a response from Jeannie, he bends to the ground & brushes his hand over a patch of untouched snow, feeling its coldness for a brief second. He misses this, hasn’t done this in what feels like millennia, & so he savors the moment when he scoops up a large snowball & crushes it in both hands. When he twists & pulls his hands apart, a soft, cozy white hat is there instead. 

                    ❝ It won’t be as cold as the snow, I promise. ❞

       ❛   So, like, before you slap me across the face for disappearing off the face of the planet for a hundred years, I just wanted you to know that I’m sorry and also you look, like, so very beautiful tonight, like, the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen ever, and don’t be as mad, maybe?   ❜

     ❝ HEY, DON’T TAKE this the wrong way or nothing, but you look a little too clean-cut to be hanging around here. You lost? ❞ She pats her sidearm, shiny scar tissue flickering from across her knuckles. ❝ I can keep you safe for the evening. For a price. ❞

He was positive that the beautiful woman was going to be human. After all, the likelihood of her being anything else was terribly low. He was already preparing to smite her, annoyed but resigned, when he realized that his steak was not over just yet. 

His face immediately brightened.
