Her gaze slid to…Honerva. She'd meant it, when she'd said she looked as beautiful as ever. But the alchemist was different. Amma had never seen her wear anything apart from the billowing purple robe — now, she donned a much more form-fitting suit fit much more for space travel. Her skin tone was different too — no longer the violet-blue it had been, it was now a cool brown, and Amma resisted the sudden urge to reach out and trace her hands like she'd done so many years ago.
Honerva's eyes weren't taken over by the golden glow of Quintessence anymore either. Without it, they almost looked…catlike, fixed on Amma with such an intensity that she almost squirmed. It seemed they were both sizing each other up.
Amma's smile dropped, her mind returning to the situation at hand. "If you aimed to kill, why didn't you let me die?"
"I…wasn't aware it was you."
Her voice was different too, Amma realized. Just a little higher in pitch, a little bit softer…though, still with the same raspy tone. Had she deliberately trained it? Or had it changed on its own along with everything else?
She sat up, and gritted her teeth as her body protested greatly, everything inside of her screeching in pain. Honerva twitched towards her — Amma saw her hand lift slightly.
She'd said something earlier.
"You mentioned…your son? Has gone missing?"
Honerva pulled back immediately, and Amma saw her close herself off, her face becoming stony. She'd heard correctly, then.
Amma's mind flicked through what she knew, piecing together a grim, but unsurprising conclusion.
"Your son was Prince Lotor, wasn't he?"
Honerva's shoulders slumped — that small, defensive posture she'd held as Haggar creeping over her. The unspoken questions, the reasons Amma knew hung between them, turning the air thick with unease.
She answered the easiest question. "He accessed the Quintessence field. Since then, he hasn't been seen."
